How can a body of people that large be bent? It was nothing to do with CLP. The chair of SH CLP confirms this in the link below. They were not told of Jareds nomination or that he himself had decided to stand nor were they informed of the process that was used to select him. https://labourlist.org/2019/08/what-labour-should-learn-from-jared-omaras-selection/ As it was a snap election the decision was made by the NEC entirely based on applications

Well yes, how can you expect local parties to organise hustings, a vote etc...at such short notice, the election was called 19th April for the 8th June, thats less than 7 weeks and you have to give the candidate enough time to campaign. Sorry, Sheffield Hallam CLP. 3 minutes ago, geared said: So a small committee decided who got to stand? An out-of-touch one at that.

"Ooh he is disabled, that ticks a box". Too true, thing is he was voted in by the smart part of Sheffield.

The Hallam constituency covers more than the 'smart' part of Sheffield, and its demographic has changed. Just now, HeHasRisen said: Someone will be along to blame the students again. Who? Fair enough, although that was not 100% true even back then A more interesting question is, as he was parachuted in, who on the NEC nominated and seconded him, assuming they follow procedure, of course.

They had 630 to sort out in a very short space of time, there is no chance you can "vet" everyone, he didnt even tell the local party he had applied as he knew they would have tried to stop it, and given they wouldnt have given the constituency much chance of a win it wouldnt have been anywhere near priority.
