cressida
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63792458 Children in care were punched, locked out naked and had vinegar poured on cuts, according to reports that were filed over three years before the homes were finally shut. A BBC investigation has learned more than 100 concerns were logged at the Doncaster children's homes, which retained a "good" Ofsted rating. Leaked documents also show Ofsted was alerted 40 times about incidents. The regulator has now apologised, as has Hesley Group, which ran the homes. Full credit to the BBC Investigation team. This is something that comes up in the news quite often, how do these fiends get into such positions, vermin is not a strong enough word for them. But prosecuting those further up, for enabling this disgrace will make more difference in the long run.

Mister M
"The Hesley Group - owned by private equity firm Antin Infrastructure, which is better known for investing in gas pipelines - continues to run a school and placements for adults with learning disabilities" It's similar to the Winterbourne View scandal, exposed by Panorama, where the regulatory body had been informed of the abuse taking place, but the CQC did nothing. They should not be allowed too . Would it be better if these schools were put under Government control ?

Not necessarily no. But I baulk at the reality that a private equity firm, better known for laying gas pipelines, is involved in the care of vulnerable people.
