Oh dear. What a silly escalation by the West.

Western nations supply antitank, antiaircraft armaments: it’s an escalation by the West

Western nations supply personal weapons, shells, MRAPs: it’s an escalation by the West

Western nations supply artillery systems: it’s an escalation by the West

Western nations supply antiradar missiles: it’s an escalation by the West

Western nations supply tanks: it’s an escalation by the West

Russia invades Chechnya. Twice. Not an escalation

Russia invades Georgia. Not an escalation

Russia installs little green men across Donbas. Not an escalation

Russian little green men down a Dutch civilian airliner. Not an escalation

Russia lends little green men to suppress the Euromaidan protests. Bloodily. Not an escalation

Russia invades Crimea. Not an escalation

Russia invades Ukraine. Not an escalation

Russian soldiers rape, pillage and murder civilians  daily for 11 months. Not an escalation
Russia deliberately targets civilians and civilian infrastructure. Not an escalation

Putin threatens nuclear escalation if he doesn’t get his imperialistic way. Not  an escalation

Get a grip sometime, yeah?

Western nations have been supplying Ukraine with military equipment since the start of the war.  Supplying tanks is no different to supplying other military equipment to Ukraine.  Iran has been supplying military equipment to Russia and are not a target for Western nations for that reason.  As long as Western troops keep out of the action there is no change from what has been happening from day one of the war.  I personally do not think Ukraine with the help of Western tanks will help them win the war but it will keep the war lasting longer.

It's been said in the news, the longer this drags on the more it will tip in Russia's favour.

They are willing to win by attrition, whatever the cost.  If that means destroying Ukraine piece by piece and sacrificing thousands if not millions of their own troops, then so be it.

Supplying main battle tanks to Ukraine most certainly is an escalation.

A stupid and dangerous one too.

Let's just hope it will be ukrainian tank operators and not British, German and American ones.

The thought of that makes my blood run cold.

What you write is true. It was reported at the end of last year that Russia has the World's largest tank factory and prisoners have been sent there to help build the tanks.

When Putin was getting ready to invade Ukraine Liz Truss who was the Foreign Secretary at the time was correct when she said Ukraine are more prepared this time to take on Russia and they will put up a fight if Russia try’s to invade Ukraine.  They certainly have put up a fight.  I was one of those who thought it would be over in a few weeks.

Mr Putin must be frustrated with his military and now he has to contend with the West supplying Ukraine with tanks.

So the USA , Germany and UK are sending tanks to Ukraine to bolster their forces in the battle against Putins Army, looks like a world war its Nato v Russia by proxy, not very clever surely Putin will eventually take this as an act of war by the west??????

Sending tanks to Ukraine for them to bravely defend their own country from an expansionist madman who thinks he's Peter The Great and would stop at nothing to re-establish the USR (USSR minus S for socialist) ?

Not before time.

They may have a large tank factory, but they don't have access to the tech needed to equip them, goodness knows what they might end up producing.

It may be limited to lighter infantry fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery.

Putin has been made to look like a fool. He has an army that’s not fit for purpose.
At first I thought there was a chance that he might use nuclear or chemicals weapons when things were not going to plan in the first few months of the war.  Now as time passes I don’t think he will, but that’s just my opinion.
