Apparently the Nicola Bulley case has attracted the attention of the world wide media.

It was the same when Madeline McCann went missing.

It's odd how some cases really capture the attention of the world's media, but others don't.

These two cases were unique.

If the police had stated Nicola Bulley was vulnerable from the start without going into detail then attention and speculation would not have been as big.

3 weeks of extensive searching by specialist teams uncovers nothing....

Makes me wonder if the body has just been put there.

Will have to stop watching Columbo.

Its people with opinions like that who have been running around sleuthing, and causing carnage to the investigation.

The Colin Murray programme on Radio 5 last night (from about 20 mins in iirc) worth a listen, he tears the rest of the media a new hole.

As already said, tides and currents do strange things to bodies, Go and look at the Wayne Gacy case, he threw five bodies in the nearby river, one of them was never recovered and another took over 4 months to wash up.

A forensic investigation will be done on the body, hopefully this should tell the police how long the body has been in the water.

Exactly- and I'll say it, if this was a working class or poor family or even non white, it would never have got this much attention.

Some cases just seem to get traction in the media

Tbf it could've easily been the other groups you mention

We had a similar case in Southport.  The lad turned up five months later in an area that had been searched countless times by police and members of the public

Tides      meaning that it is a tidal river and so the current flows both ways twice a day.

First, it's flowing to the sea and then next, it's flowing back inland.

It must have moved the poor lady's body about quite a lot.

Very true.  If you look an an Ordnance Survey map you'll see the marking "NTL" which marks the furthest extent that tides can reach.  And this week is a week of especially high tides. And there are countless little muddy creeks in the area
