The printer is connected to my PC with a USB from the printer to my PC.

So, no connection to the other PC? That would explain a lot! Ah well, a mix of assumption and lack of info...it happens ;)

The printer share info Ghozer has given should sort it. Just remember the part about 'your PC must be ON'

You should be done once it's shared properly.

My wife`s PG is connected to my PC via a long ethernet cable(if that is the right name for it). I think what I will do is dismantle the work group and sharing options and start all over again by creating another work group.

Although the way you have it works, a switch between them would be a better way to go. It could cause issues depending which type of cable you're using. Wireless would also be a better option. All options are hardware dependant (age/functions of PC etc) It might be worth a new topic on Windows network and sharing. Just list the OS, hardware and what you want the end result to be. Such as folder sharing, or just the printer.

Sharing the printer as your setup is shouldn't change any of your other settings. You might over complicate things by starting from scratch before you've decided what would be the best setup for you.

YAHOO. It is sorted. I uninstalled everything to do with the printer on both PCs. I then re-installed the printer on my PC letting it do the full install and applied the share option and it is now working fine. I cannot thank you all enough for your help and time you have spent helping me with this problem. Cheers.
