Sheffield Becoming A 15 Minute City

I think one of the problems is the Council (and anyone else in charge) is no longer trusted.

So what alternative are you suggesting?

Lib Dems, Labour and Green parties have all been in power here in recent years. Have you noticed any major difference under any of these administrations?

The nature of decisions that politicians have to make means that there is usually an element of their constituents who won’t be happy. I don’t think they could possibly please everyone all the time.

Five Sheffield neighbourhoods to be completely transformed in 'exciting' plans that will see 20,000 new homes built

'Each neighbourhood is planned to have a heart, amenity space, local facilities and infrastructure that are all within walking distance'

The wording in this is almost exactly like the wording for the Oxford scheme except here they've omitted the words "within 15 mins walk" its so obvious what they're doing and some just can't see it. 🤣

Planners across the world describe developments using similar words, so it isn’t hard to find similarities. Not exactly proof of a major a conspiracy, is it.

The ones in Sheffield are small areas of redevelopment in or close to the city centre, so naturally many amenities will be within an easy walk for most folk.

This is just normal urban planning. Same as has been happening for decades here and elsewhere. You really do need to have a look at yourself if you see conspiracies in this stuff.

It's not though, it's window dressing, they haven't used the words 15 min cities due to the bad press that that phrase is garnering.

honestly, haven't  seen any 'bad press' surrounding this, beyond this forum.... and it's not something that is posted/plastered/advertised all over, hadn't even heard of it until this thread originally started, and I looked more into it...

There have been protests in Oxford where it's being trialled and people destroying traffic bollards and cameras, now they're using other words to describe it.

That's different, that's not the "15 min city" thing, that's similar to the pollution reduction they are doing with all the road blocking and such around Crookes, and bottom of C-field Road etc, which are separate schemes from the 15 min city proposals...
