At the moment it's not severely restricting anyone, it’s what happens when it does that's the whole crux of the argument.

See what you mean, but there don’t seem to be any plans that I’ve seen to put more of these “filters” on other routes in Oxford. It looks to be just to reduce traffic on one particular route.

If you mean in the wider sense, It looks to me that a wider uptake of  low traffic neighbourhoods and other such schemes to cut through traffic in residential areas is something we’ll see in many places. A lot of people will see this as a good thing, but some motorists will find it makes them travel a bit further and their journey takes longer.

Surely all the details is on their website already as to where these 6 gates will be?

Come on, post a map giving examples of where roads will be blocked off to force everyone to use these 6 gates, and where this is detailed in the plans, its not difficult.

What happens when ailens land on Earth and enslave us all?

WHAT THEN?!?!

Why do you keep going to these unfunny extremes, Oxford Council have this on their website, why would they need exemptions for certain people if it's free anyway:

Who will be exempt from travelling through the traffic filters?

For the trial phase, the following vehicles will be exempt from the traffic filters. This means they can travel freely, at all times and without applying for a permit.

  • Buses
  • Coaches
  • Taxis
  • Private hire vehicles
  • Mopeds
  • Motorbikes
  • Vans
  • HGVs
  • Special vehicles such as emergency services.

Free permits for private cars will be available for:

  • Blue badge holders (either driving the car or being driven in the car) and disabled tax class vehicles
  • Non-professional carers (in receipt of carer’s allowance)
  • Professional health and care workers (for operational journeys, not commuting)
  • Businesses within the permit area using a private car as a goods vehicle
  • Residential properties within the permit area eligible for 100 day passes per vehicle per year (up to a max of 3 vehicles per household and one vehicle per person)
  • Community transport vehicles
  • Those in receipt of mobility-related benefits
  • Those in receipt of direct travel payments.

Car permits will be available for all residents and businesses (subject to conditions) located in:

  • Oxford City Council’s administrative area
  • North Hinksey Parish
  • South Hinksey Parish
  • Cumnor Parish east of the A420, including Botley, Dean Court, Cumnor Hill, Chawley and parts of Cumnor.

We'll see next year how they do it, how they will force car traffic onto the 6 routes full of ANPR cameras keeping a count on your journeys. Don't do more than 100 or it's fine time.

Quite a lot of the CAZ ANPR cameras are being vandalised around the country.

Isn't the whole idea to reduce emissions, surely that creates more?

(no offence 👍🙂)

I don't know what you mean but @The_DADDY has the decency to explain.  It just shows how low you are stooping to try and score a point.

Can you be more precise please, as to when next year. A date and time will be enough for now thank you as I've things to plan. Don't be too long with the information now dear boy.

What happens when President Snow takes over and splits the world up into 13 districts?

Bloke on Lowedges Forum (can't remember his name) says that's already happening

You can drive thru it at certain times, so what happens when the area has increased and you can't avoid it to get to the shops?

The Hillsborough bus / tram gate was put in when the dual carriageway on Penistone Rd was opened, so through traffic uses Penistone Rd instead of Langsett Rd / Middlewood Rd. It locks in the public transport benefits of the new road provision and cuts bus and tram journey times considerably. ( there used to be queues back to Wood St on Langsett Rd)

It’s a specific restriction done for a specific public transport reason. You can still drive to the shops, you just go round a bit further. No bus gate anywhere completely prevents vehicular access to premises, so what you are suggesting simply won’t happen.

Wake up sheeple.

You've now ignored two direct questions with a request of a simple yes or no answer, not so confident of your narrative really are you?
