Bring Back The Death Sentence For Spies And Traitors.

Having abolished capital punishment for understandable reasons we should not bring it back.  Too many innocent people would have been murdered  by the state had we retained it. Whilst the expression executed may be appropriate when referring to a guilty person,  only murdered correctly describes the state killing an innocent person.

However, life imprisonment should mean exactly that, life.

With regard to spies and traitors, all countries including ours use them so selecting them for special treatment seems a little harsh.

That'd be pretty bad news for Boris :?

Do not be ridiculous. Boris Johnson was the first Western leader to give Ukraine support in the form of military equipment after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Too many opinionated people on here writing cheques their mouths can't cash.
With costs of £1,00 a week, how long will your tax this year keep someone locked up?

Too many innocent people in need to be looking after the scum.

So your argument is purely financial, cheaper to kill em than feed and house em? And a bit of collateral damage is acceptable?

What crimes fall into your new regime?

Main problem is that they don't fear prison.  Why would they.

They used to be made to work hard for their keep.

Now they don't have to work,   they can watch TV,   they can play computer games,   They can go to the gym

They smoke in there,  many take drugs in there, some even enjoy alcohol in there.

According to TV documentaries, the drug barons have more say than the governor in the running of a prison.

Knowing that criminals don't like working for a living should be the  clue to changing their lifestyle or making them avoid prison.

Make them serve their full sentences except for remission, which has to be earned by very good behaviour (and hard work).

It seem the government doesn't understand ordinary human nature.  They should because most of them are idle sods too.

...and?

In terms of your original metric "national traitors"... Boris's actions in supporting Brexit and lying about the obvious consequences time and time again qualifies.

A poor contribution.

Thankfully it is UK courts of law who judge whether an individual is guilty of being a national spy or traitor and not folk obsessed with Brexit or Boris Johnson.

If you're saying it is, it can't be that bad :P

I hazard a guess that the U.K. is very well provided for on the ‘spying’ front, these guys and gals go down as being very brave and heroic, Generally ‘our agents’ would be exchanged for ‘their agents’ of a comparable status on the spying front.

Surely none of you would like to see the execution of our own Honor Blackman for heavens sake. 😉

Count me in for the death penalty and prohibitive prison sentences.

You'd have a lot less crime waged on the most vulnerable in society, innocent civilians, including LGTB, women, children, blacks, brown, asians, and dinner ladies.  :)

Listen to the criminals, they have a common saying. "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime!

They are capitalists in that they weigh the CBA , or risk/benefit analysis. It's a very lucrative way of making a living, if you're smart.

After 12,000 years of civilization, an innocent person should be free to live amongst society, without their property, lives, families, and livelihoods being taking away by anti-civilization human debris.

Anything else is a human jungle.

(I would add looters to the list!)
