But you are offended by the Tories . Thats why you look for the  negative news and post it .

It's hard to avoid them given they are the Government!

If like most other UK Governments have sought to do which is to fulfill its functions in a reasonable competent way, or respond to the inevitable crises that beset countries then I wouldn't be offended by them as such. That's the basics its citizens can expect from a Government. They can't even manage competence.

It's the incessant stoking up of culture wars and it's the mendacity in its dealings with issues that I find so enraging.

They don't upset me!

Yes I'll  comment on the Guardian. It's the newspaper which I read the most because I find it the most reliable and fair minded. Of the few opinion pieces which I guess will annoy me, I tend not to bother with.

I'd suggest Guardian fans, broaden their sources.

It might add a little perspective on the real world.

They seem obsessed with "Texas" shooters, but nary a mention of the real hotbeds of homicides, in almost a year!

Texas ranks 25 in U.S. homicides

Washington DC ranks number 1  But no recent report to be found in the Guardian on this Democrat run hotbed of homicide!, which, incidentally, has the strictest gun laws. :)

Or even Illinois, another infamous Democrat run home of homicide and strict gun laws. Ranks No.10, but only one report of illinois shooting, in the last year, or so!  :)

I would suggest, but I would not know, that most British readers will not make the "US-News" section of their website a priority.

I also recall from my last visit that the Guardian website had a very different slant and content priority in its American version. I also know that 'news agencies' provide most foreign content(although an editor over here would decide from what was provided-including cost). Copyright laws and other journalistic agreements also mean that what people see in websites differs depending on their residence and the options selected for them/by them.

I also know that newspapers all over the world share content and have formal and informal agreements with other news sources. Most newspapers receive their foreign content from freelance journalists who supply them with what they want, and I am pretty certain that Brits know very little about gun carrying rules and availability in different states and see 'Gun Control' as a two sided national issue.

    Comparing Texas(pop. 30 000 000,  area of 700 000 km² ) with Washington DC(pop. 800 000  in an area of 180 km²) is not very useful.

The Guardian should be thankful that so many 'unexpected' readers are visiting and actively engaging their website and therefore helping them out financially.

To be honest, perhaps my comments could have been posted to the thread "Mass shootings in America", which does have a spirited current debate going on,  by Sheffield Forum posters.

But this particular thread is about the way The Guardian presents the news.

I obviously visit their website, in order to comment on the subject of their bias, and I'm always greeted by a half page of requests to fund them.

But since I don't rely on them for unbiased news coverage, I decline.

Just incase you were unaware....

The guardian wants you to know even though it's completely irrelevant....

One is white and the other is black.

Can anyone tell me why they think this is important?

Yes of course- the freelance journalist who wrote the article and sold it to The Guardian, who also sells her stories to other media outlets.

You could also ask those other 'racist' publication like:

 Daily Mail

 The Telegraph

 The Times

 Sky News

 Financial Times amongst many.

And just in case you think it is just the British media there is the:

ABC(Australia)

Radio New Zealand

The Japan Times amongst many

And just in case you think it is just the MSM there is the:

Keighley News

Kidderminster Shuttle

Somerset County Gazette amongst many.

Morning Annie.

Can you specifically recall the Mail, Telegraph, Times or Financial times printing articles mentioning the race of folk when it's completely irrelevant?

Simple, just look at their coverage of the thing you're whining about in The Guardian on any given day... imagine my surprise to discover that all of them mentioned the race of those involved too! :?

Here's one from the Daily Mail:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12080427/Daniel-Penny-page-GiveSendGo-raised-1-million-donations.html

"Police questioned Penny, who is white, in the aftermath but released him without charges. Neely was black."

FT:

https://www.ft.com/content/a781c4f8-8782-4cb5-8489-f03612c1c368

"Penny, who is white"

If race really is as "completely irrelevant" to this story, as you claim... how come every other paper who ran it also mentioned the race of those involved?
