Whats Happening In Guardian Land Today

I was wondering how long it would take for the liars at the Guardian to write a piece on how too white the comedy Friends was. ...

There's a clause in Zoe Williams's Guardian contract that says that she has to be upset and offended about at least one identity politics related thing in each article she writes.  She's still annoyed that Owen got to write the piece about #FrasierSoWhite.

Probably true, as well.

It wouldn't surprise you.

But why blatantly lie?

Owen Jones, another blatant liar.

She presumably meant a character, like Charlie, who had more than a scene or two in one episode.  Though I was more a fan of Frasier than Friends, so I can't really remember the main guest characters/actors.

It was mentioned in the office this morning in light of Matthew Perry.

Someone said they'd never seen Friends and one of the 'right-ons' suggested that it 'hasn't aged well'.

Why is it just western culture that has to live up to impossible standards?  There are Sky channels from abroad which feature ZERO diversity and no one bats an eyelid.

I'm currently listening to the audiobook of The War on the West by Douglas Murray and it's extremely thought-provoking on the double standards we're expected to live by in the west.

Friends was set in a predominantly white, predominantly heterosexual country... shock-horror that that is what it portrayed!

True though.  Marta Kauffman has already prostrated herself several times apologising for Friends' terrible lack of diversity, misgendering Chandler's dad and whatnot.  Don't think she's mentioned the trauma-inducing fat Monica yet, or the fact that they didn't treat the 'Chandler might be gay' trope with the level of seriousness that it really should demand.

Comedy that ended nearly twenty years ago reflects the time and attitudes in which it was made.  Who knew?

Looks like he logged in yesterday.
