HillsDog
Found out today that with intense work by Andy Burnham, Bus services in Manchester and Liverpool have been returned to public control During his campaign to be mayor of South Yorkshire Oliver Coppard promised to 'look at' doing the same The privatisation experiment has clearly demonstrated that the private sector is incapable of running public services. So it's time to ask him what he has seen when he 'looked' and insist that he answers his email is mayor@southyorkshire-ca.gov.uk
RollingJ
Maybe we ought to see how Manchester and Liverpool fare before we jump on this. You do realise that if the council - for that is what 'public ownership' means - runs the service, you, as a council tax payer, will be funding any shortfalls in revenue? Guest busdriver1
It is VERY early days and far too soon to determine if this is going to work. Also they are NOT in public ownership, they are to a degree in public control.

Sounds interesting. 😉 Edited February 25, 2023 by RollingJ

Bus strike would CAUSE more problems than it'd solve IMO.

People who say things like that, often mean that they hope they do, so that they can complain about it. Have they mentioned striking?
