I wondered, that if Notts County were the oldest English league club- and they are-  who did they play their first league game against ? The answer (oldest) seems to be Nottingham Forest or Stoke City.

But Notts County aren't in the English Football League now although I get your point, they're in the National League which is administered by the FA I think.

Luongo has been unfit for the majority of the season…he couldn’t get a game for Middlesbrough & only just got himself fit at Ipswich …don’t think he’s been missed at Hillsborough to be honest…

Not up until now he hasn't, if Byers is out until the end of the season I'd have loved Luongo here and he looked good on Saturday.

Don't know how I got into this Notts County thing ((Miller time of day I think), Only been to Meadow Lane twice :  v Owls -less said about that game.... and County v Fulham , with George Best, Bobby Moore and Rodney Marsh for the Londoners- 1976 early 1977 I think. A (then), Second  Division game.

I think Stoke City are the oldest club now in the football league although I did see an article from a Nottingham Newspaper that claimed it was forest, not sure who it is to be honest.

A fit Luongo is a good player there’s no doubt..but he was constantly knackered when he was at Hillsborough that’s why we let him go …

Yep, that weak bench is crawling into the starting 11 now. Waiting for specialist results on Byers and Windass isn't good. I watched a bit of the Ipswich game on Saturday, Luongo started for them, what I'd give to have him now. Don't think it would have taken a lot to keep him either.

Kieran Lee as well. He's doing a great job at Bolton. My choice for 'keeper, Ben Foster (39) has signed for Wrexham. I'm not blaming Dawson (only 99%), but the first goal of any game is important.

Cam's ok  but he's not as reliable as a quality 'keeper should be.

If the first goal hadn't been gifted to them, the whole game would have been different (obviously).

Wildsmith wasn't good enough either. A steady 'keeper is very important.

Last week I read a book about  County and aparantaily they played matches in South Yorks against the Owls , They also played against Worksop Town among a couple of others spreading from Nottingham towards Sheffield , A mini league among the first pro clubs

Not to be pedantic  but I think The Owls were The Blades in those days.

Some prune will research it and belittle me very soon, I'm sure.

And I don't think our area was South Yorkshire either.

I thought I'd mention it before a predator did. 🙂

If you watch that 1st goal again, youl see Famewo just trotting back to cover behind Dawson, he should have read the danger and RACED back to cover.

Flint plays a suicide ball to Vaulks whose already got men closing him down when he should have hammered it down the pitch and cleared the danger, it was as bad as passing to a red shirt

Its all history now, mistakes were made and got punished

Well said I thought the same myself but he would have had a tantrum if I had pointed his errors out.

That's the problem anyone correct you lot and they're predators, maybe people should be more adult and accept it or shall we just ignore some off the untrue nonsense posted?.

Letting him go wasn't the point, I agreed we needed shut at the time, my point was I wish we had him now, as I'm sure Moore does,
