Trouble is, no matter what they call it, we don't live in a true democracy with our political system. A massive majority of seats, for a small minority of votes is wrong and we should have PR

Over a million of them went on the march because the government had the temerity to try and raise the pension age from 62 to 64. It all ended in tears with rioting and disorder which I don't approve of, but the French now have a better standard of living and services than we do because the French government know the French people en masse are a force to be reckoned with, and they have to take notice or they start chopping heads off. Our government by contrast is constantly riding roughshod over the people and clamping down on our rights to protest about it, Is it time we took a leaf out of the French book? Yes. far too complacent here.

Especially when dealing with a government as greedy and devious as ours, who better their own lot, whilst making sure that everybody else gets crumbs. It's easy enough to change their minds. That was proved in Liverpool when they decided to tame Thatcher. Edited March 25, 2023 by Organgrinder

If hackey was a French peasant in 1793 he would have happily been nibbling on his brioche crumbs whilst doffing his cap.

Why are they so scared of letting us have a vote to see if we want to keep them? Because they know the answer will be no. Same reason as they won't let Scotland have another referendum.
