Oxford utd v sheffield wednesday fc

Slightly the better side in the 1st half, only 4 shots on target, all from Wednesday, peach of a goal from Bannan, but Will Vaulks was a VERY lucky man, two missed timed challenges under the refs nose inside two mad minutes, one whilst already on a yellow.

Wednesday as per their plan went for it in the 1st 15 mins of the 2nd half and forced their keeper into two smart saves, but, Oxford gradually gained control of MF from there on and Wednesday werer forced deeper and deeper, Oxford denied what looked a nailed on pen, Stockdale, who yet again was guilty of spilling shots into his area, made a brilliant one handed stop from the CB from a corner and were awarded a really soft pen when the player tried to hurdle Famewo who was on his hands and knees attempting to regain his feet. From there we just looked a very tired side pumping long balls with no energy,Johnsons first successful cross into the box came after 80 minutes

Wednesday look very beatable on current form

Oxford expected to be beaten today.

Distribution poor again. James is beaten too easily. Adrenalin, forth game on the bounce he’s been ineffective, to be polite. Balls up to front two were shocking. Look likely to concede each attack from the opposition.
We don’t look like a promotion winning team at the moment.

I'm not one to complain, but my God!!

Hoof, lose, hoof, lose  hoof, lose.

At the moment, we're probably the worst footballing team in Div 1.

Nowt to be proud of, and I'm not.

Awful, awful, awful.

The 'not given penalty' WAS a penalty, so we haven't got any straws to clutch at.

We were dreadful.

Not seen the earlier incident but the one that was given was a deplorable decision. Shouldn’t be having to rely on refs getting it right though when playing a team in the bottom four.

The way Bannan realised our player was in trouble, was the ONLY player to have the nous to help out, and ran thetty or fotty yahds to get him out of the mire, then to  beat a man and curl in a cracker, was magnificent. The dash to help out was, to me, the most impressive bit.

It's called 'attitude'. 'Commitment' 'Desire'.

How we now need more of it from the rest of the squad!

Perfect example of a ref realising they’ve missed a clear penalty and then looking to make amends, “ righting a wrong” and then compounding the injustice
