Irene Swaine
Pontefract has rhubarb, Retford has strawberries, Devon has cream. But, what grows well in Sheffield? My nomination would be rapeseed. It grows in abundance, especially around High Green. I grew it in my garden and it spread like wild fire. Sheffield must have the perfect climate for it. What do you think grows well in Sheffield? Are your mushrooms sprouting up a treat? Do your turnips blossom in the local climate?

I once tested a bottle of Hendos for convid.. Came up positive so I had to isolate it at the bottom of the garden for 10 days. I was gutted.. It was stew day and I had to make do with brown sauce.. Daddies of course.. Still wasn't the same though 😕 😪

Irene, Pontefract is famous for liquorice, hence the famous Pontefract cakes. The rhubarb ' triangle' is between Wakefield, Morley and Rothwell. The only thing I notice from the Forum which is thriving is the animosity between certain Owls and Blades supporters. echo. Not sure about that but spaghetti certainly does grow on trees according to Alan Whicker's April Fools' joke on TV 1957. echo.
