Possibly the fact that we still own gold stage coaches and have hundreds of teams of beautiful horses, just like we did when we were a great and powerful nation. In those days, we could afford to sweep the streets and have beat bobbies. We could lean our bikes up outside a shop and they were still there when we came out. We could do so many things that we can no longer do so, what's to celebrate? Our first King in x number of years. But sure let's wallow in self pity and long for the good ol' days

Not really - as i said, 'saving money' on the Coronation won't help the rest of society. So i'm all for having it.

Maybe we should cancel all football matches, concerts, close all the pubs, restaurants and stop all overseas holidays This way of thinking is just socialist ideology that if some people are suffering then we should all suffer with them The Coronation could give some people a bit of a distraction for the day and might even make them feel proud to be British for a brief moment Who's sat around being depressed? Something wrong with you if you need a coronation to cheer you up. Get to the doctors. No need to cancel anything else as we are used to paying for our own enjoyment. It costs the nation nothing and brings money into the exchequer. Sounds as if you are suffering anyway, as usual, so why worry. Pay for a party for the people then instead of those at the top who have plenty of parties. 6 minutes ago, Delayed said: Our first King in x number of years. No self pity here and we have proof all around us, that the good ol' days have gone so we don't even need reminding.
harvey19
The Coronation will be a wonderful display of our love for our Monarch and country. It will give many a great opportunity to moan and say what victims of society they are. It will brighten up the lives of those who live boring , miserable lives and give us all the opportunity to exercise our bodies by cheering and clapping. It's happening and yes we'll be paying for it. It's hardly a fairy tale when it's actually happening.
