Given your experience I'm surprised someone hasn't taken you on.

I thought that there was a shortage of IT specialists....

it may sound daft but if you have a job its easier to get one,i was chatting to a bloke at kentucky and said are you new ,he said yes sort of ,i always work at a job like this when changing or being made redundent as it proves to my next employer that even though i have the skills i am a hard working person,he told me it helps prove that i am a worker and still active .its only a thought ,he said his mate although he had loads of qualifications he could not get a job had taken a brickies course and was earning top cash and thought why did i bother with university ,so good luck.

What you have here is the start of a very good CV to give to would-be employers. Citizens advice would help you knock it into shape and make it look professional. Then you have to get out there and sell yourself to possible employers. You could start by offering your services to charitable concerns as a volunteer to get some experience of work and some decent references.

My issue is that Ive never really worked. I have raised my daughter but had a litany of health and mental illness issues. Your not allowed to just live and as a male most of my life is frowned on.

Trust me I have no pride in myself

Welcome to the forum! I know it can be difficult to find meaningful work when you have faced health and mental health issues. Don't be too hard on yourself - life can be unpredictable and sometimes it takes a bit of time to get back on track. You have already achieved so much in raising your daughter - that is something to be proud of. Don't forget that you have skills and knowledge gained from your life experiences that can be valuable in the workplace. You may just need a bit of time and support to work out how to channel those skills into meaningful work. I'm sure you will find the right opportunity soon.
