Bank Of England Says People Need To Accept They Are Poorer

Recommended Posts

Actually it was me who first posted that it's because of lockdowns that we are now in the mess we are in

I've travelled to a few countries around the world since the end of the pandemic and I can tell you that it's devastated small businesses and communities

That means that hundreds of millions will have lost their homes

Another financial crisis is on the horizon

So yes COVID is a factor as to why we are all poorer

You could do the following:

1. Get a hobby

2. Get off the internet

3. Get some perspective

4. Learn that times change

He's got a hobby,   Crying and moaning that people won't work for nowt so he can enjoy life properly

Indeed they do.

But are we supposed to be happy that they always seem to change for the worst and we are on a relentless path going downhill?

That's just your depressing outlook on life. Not everyone subscribes to that same view.

Yes things aren't great at the moment but to suggest that things are always changing for the worst and relentlessly going downhill is not necessarily true.

You may need a prescription of anti depressants

My pension and wealth is increasing, as it always has, if a little slower.

Surely most peoples wealth grows over time?

Have you not watched the news for the last 2 years then?

The effects of inflation act on you too.  That's unavoidable even if you deny it.

I've invested in a lot of things over the years.

Property is always a safe bet on a renters market and in Sheffield it's rich pickings with so many students

I bought a fair bit of bitcoin at £16k

Also I have bought a lot of gold...not actually good but gold stocks

1 - I have got a hobby : swimming (when I am allowed to do it).

2 - One of the reasons I do not have a smart phone is to get away from the internet

3 - Get some perspective ? Very true, I can agree with that, but when does that stray into just meekly accepting paranoid BS ? If everyone if that (and I accept the majority do just that) we then get ever more paranoid BS.

4 - For the worse. And it will continue to get worse unless people push back.

Anyone who denies that is an idiot. But, to be fair, very few people deny it, they just say that other factors are more significant (they may be significant but they're not as significant....), and/or we should have suppressed society and the economy anyway "because even one death is one too many".
