The Building On Angel Street Corner (Formerly Primark & C&A)

Recommended Posts

Tongues are wagging about the building on Angel Street corner, formerly Primark & C&A. Having been abandoned for over five years, it now seems to be used as a billboard holder. Recently, it was advertising KFC, which got people wondering if they were moving to there, but it seems not.

It is a great shame to have a building in that location going to waste and not a good image for visitors to the city.  It would be perfect for a store such as House Of Fraser or Next to take on, plenty of retail space and room for an upstairs cafeteria.

Or perhaps it could become a bowling alley with an upstairs bar.

Or perhaps a flea market, similar to the one in Pickering with a micropub hub upstairs, like the one in Doncaster Markets.

Something should be done.

If nothing else, it could be used to house the *genuine* homeless.

Think there are plans to build Sheffields tallest skyscraper there

God here we go again, you can't just lob "the homeless" in an empty (gutted in this case) commercial building.

How many are you letting stay at your gaff, Irene?

Why do you do this ?

What, inject realism into things?

You can't throw a load of homeless people into an empty concrete shell of a commercial building. Asking Irene what she is doing herself to solve the issue is hardly offensive.

How would you expect her to solve the issue ?

Solve perhaps the wrong word. You knew what I meant. People are quick to demand others do things without wanting to do anything themselves. So why should a private landlord house a load of homeless people in his or her building, even if they were allowed to?

Is Irene helping by letting a homeless person live with her? Was an innocent enough question.

Some of the council housing association properties are not much better, some would argue worse on the basis that they have mould problems affecting personal health of the inhabitants. We need to cut the red tape and think of practical solutions.

How many homeless people will you be letting move in with you to help with the situation?
