Annie Bynnol
In the UK a passport, by itself, is often not regarded as a form of ID- no address. Teenagers and twenty year old have a current passport/provisional or full driving licence just so they can get a drink in a bar. Fewer older people tend not to have or carry them. Surely there are ways a Smartphone can be used as a form of ID. At Birkenhead(arriving from Belfast) port I was asked politely by a Police officer if I could identify myself, as I had no passport or driving licence it was suggested to me that some Apps on my 'smartphone' could be used to establish my identity. The ferry companies are now requesting photo ID for NI and the Republic. Airlines demand.

See, that’s the thing that has been so little brought up and discussed in this whole voterID scheme, such as it was brought about in the U.K., complete with asymmetric documentation requirements (why was a bus pass of an OAP valid, but a buss pass of a 18-something not, pray tell?) There can be no disenfranchisement of voters, in any country that has it as a mandatory requirement to have (and often as not, carry at all times) official ID, especially those with such requirements from the earliest age: everyone -even those who have yet to be old enough to gain the right to vote- has ID, because they have to. And depending on the country, everyone has at least the same ID document (e.g. French national ID card, even if one never leaves France/the EU and never has a passport; and/or never learns to drive). But in a country that still has no such requirements, like the UK, well…😏 ive found 14 out of 31 so far. France, Germany and Italy have no formal compulsary ID

If he is not a conservative by the time he is 40, he has no brain.' Starmer calculates that if schoolchildren gravitate to the political left, bringing them on to the electoral roll would maximise his party's chances at the ballot box. True, but by that logic, why shouldn't 14-year-olds get the vote? Or those aged 12? Surely if people are deemed too immature at 16 to decide whether or not they should drink alcohol, smoke, drive or get a tattoo, they shouldn't be entrusted with voting – a decision that will affect the future of millions of their fellow citizens? Equally, minors have no property, no dependants, no tax liabilities, none of the responsibilities that impel electors to vote with their heads rather than their hearts. A reasonable basic starting point is that our species is TECHNICALLY ADVANCED & SOCIALLY PRIMITIVE ! Put it another way, given that 90% of our species are dysfunctional as despite being born Democratic & sociable (Kurt Lewin), by age 2 most have been screwed up by abusive parents who then for no valid reason blame the kids by labelling it "The terrible 2s" This is an inter generational curse as each generation never learns to del with their problems & screws up the next generation! Basically, the longer you live in this dystopic species, the more you'll be screwed up by it! A good primer is PT.1 of the sci fi film series MATRIX - Should you wish to work out our present version of our MATRIX, it's my view that they are formed from CORRUPT POLITICIANS/GIANT CORPORATIONS /PSYCHOPATHIC OLIGARCHIES ( e g World Economic Forum) For an excellent explanation of MATRIX, go to @YOU TUBE@ & look up @EINZEL GANGER@ Also, one of the VERY few good psychologists on this subject is ALICE MILLER - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! And for those yet to work it out, our corrupt politicians, ETC have deliberately rigged the conventional education system so as to have us "dumbed down" by not teaching us PROBLEM SOLVING / CRITICAL THINKING - RIGOUR/LOGIC* - CAUSALITY TRAINS (in order to work out ORIGINAL CAUSE ) The reason for this is that our corrupt politicians do NOT want to be constantly challenged by an intelligent population! ( From my research this seems to be a GLOBAL problem! *Not being formally taught logic, we're forced to fall back on the Aristotelian logic still in common usage. Beig rubbish, forget about it & stRT USING non Newtonian multi causal holistic logic - FAR SUPERIOR! Cheers, Jim

Yeah i know that but if i was asked to prove who i was i could provide these documents without having to carry them around with me Although in some cases the originals have to be produced but you get my point

Perhaps we should go the Argentina route and make it compulsory to vote.
Delbow
I have a child who is 15 and I can assure the OP that they are far better mentally equipped to weigh up the issues before voting than the OP is, and they're not even 16 yet.
