The problem you have is that banks are continually changing apps because of security. You may not need a 64 bit phone now but that may change. No harm in future proofing now. 

Virgin money app, I have  deleted it from the phone (security) and put it on the Sam TAB S2,  but even that is limited to Android version 7. A bit safer, but am not  keeping the balance too high until I have a phone with  advised version.

 

I agree that things can change in the future
