Who Pandemic Preparedness Treaty.

Recommended Posts

In March 2021, a group of world leaders, including UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, announced an initiative for a new treaty on pandemic preparedness and response. This initiative was taken to the World Health Organization (WHO) and will be negotiated, drafted, and debated by a newly-established Intergovernmental Negotiation Body.

A petition on the UK Parliament website called for the Government “to commit to not signing any international treaty on pandemic prevention and preparedness established by the WHO, unless this is approved through a public referendum”. The petition closed in November 2022 with 156,086 signatures. The Petition will be debated in Parliament on 17 April 2023.

This briefing will give an overview of the key background, progress, and developments of the treaty as of March 2023.

It's all about Trust. A commodity of which there is a serious shortage, for good reason.

I'd very much like to know the details of this treaty, (the devil's in the detail...)

I'd like to know who is on this 'Newly- established Intercontinental Negotiation Body' and what affiliations and vested interests they may have.

I'd like to know why was this not widely known about so people could vote for the issue to be decided by public referendum.

Thankyou Daddy  for bringing this to our attention, but my bet is the outcome has already been decided behind the scenes, with or without the petition...

So a body/institution outside of this country deciding how, when, for how long and to what degree action is taken to deal with an emergency like a pandemic instead of our elected and accountable government is ok with you?

Everyone moaned how our government dealt with the pandemic so now it's worse when there's someone in place to make sure things are done properly?

That’s the thing about pandemics.

By definition they involve other countries too.

Unless you were hoping for a Brexity pandemic that stopped at Dover.
