Szabo-Haslam
Hello, Earlier this year I was commissioned to produce two sets of tour posters for both of the Arctic Monkeys homecoming shows in Sheffield. It was an unexpected pleasure to be asked; I had no prior contact with the band or anyone connected to them. For Friday’s show the band chose ‘There’d Better Be a Mirrorball’ from their recent album ‘The Car’ Represented as a soundwave carefully plotted and assembled by hand, it was then silkscreen printed using gloss vinyl on highly reflective metallic silver paper. The band selected ‘Sculptures of Anything Goes’ for Saturday’s show — this time printed with white vinyl ink onto a reflective black paper stock. Both prints have a mirror-like quality. 1,200 were signed and numbered over three days. While all prints quickly sold out on the day, the remaining artist proofs and trial proofs from the project are available. These show the design printed on various metallic and holographic papers, produced as tests during the project. Each is silkscreen printed with black or white gloss ink and is signed then marked with my embossing stamp. There are some really lovely finishes that won’t be reprinted — once they’re gone, they’re gone forever.
