The 'bad apples' explanation was recently debunked by Baroness Casey in her review of the Met - it goes a lot deeper than that. But it's still impossible to rationally have zero respect for an entire profession.

Very selective Anna.  Perhaps you think the state should just roll over and cash out every claim and challenge it gets. 

 

It's entitled to put up a fight just as much as anything else. 

Something like 70% of benefit claims that go to court are upheld.

 

What a pity that the assessors who see these people don't get it right in the first place thus saving both time and money. Some of the refusals are ludicrous, and contain outright lies that were never said etc. Although they'll deny it, it is obvious that the Tory agenda is to refuse first, and hope that the people who are the most sick and vulnerable in society will simply run out of the energy needed to pursue it through the courts. 

 

Some do, and commit suicide instead.

Yes, well said. Estate Agents are detested when some folk are buying, however a far different story when they obtain a far greater selling price than thought possible. Plastic surgeons charging the rich fortunes to improve their looks, against the same guys when they’re putting your face right following an accident.
