Lack Of Amenities In The City Centre

Recommended Posts

What strikes me about Sheffield City Centre is the increasing lack of amenities. For example, there used to be toilet facilities at the Town Hall, Moorfoot, Castle Square, all of these have gone now. Smaller places such as Rotherham and Doncaster have dedicated public toilets, even Chapeltown has some by the park.

Several cash machines have also disappeared with the closing of The Bank Of Scotland and Yorkshire Bank. The Yorkshire Bank promises to keep the cash facilities on Haymarket when they closed the store but fell back on this promise. Many smaller towns, such as Skegness have dedicated cash machines in the middle of the main strip.

Litter bins are often overflowing and thus unusable, both in the city centre and the outer areas.

If the council are to encourage people to visit Sheffield, they need to provide convenience services such as toilets, cash machines and serviced litter disposal points.

The reason I don't visit Drakehouse Retail Park any more is because there are no Cash Machines and no benches. It is a very poor effort. I wrote to Drakehouse about this but never got a reply. So I voted with my feet. I wonder if others are doing the same with the city centre.

There are toilet facilities at Moorfoot (the Market); The Winter Gardens has toliets, which is near the Town Hall, and you can use the toilets in the Bankers Draft which is on Castle Square.

There are also lots of bank machines in the city centre for you to chose from.

Must also say I have never visited a retail park in my life expecting a cash machine to be there. Then again, I don't think the Rothschilds and the Jewish Lizards are attempting to take over the world and therefore I use a debit card in shops.

I'd rather not use a private business's toilet of which I am not a customer.

You don't have to. You can use a public funded  facility in the Millennium Galleries or Moor Market or Howden House or Central Library or  the two bus interchanges or the rail station.

Add on the fact that if one is in town for a legitimate purpose, most normal people have the sense to use a facility while they are in a cafe or restaurant or bar or office building or department store or theatre or cinema....

As others said, this argument has been done to death.

As for your nonsense about cash machines, putting aside the fact that cash is becoming increasingly obsolete, since when was ever the council's responsibility to install cash points??

There is plenty allocation out there provided by the banks. There are bank branches all over Fargate and High Street. There are cash points attached to every single Tesco and Sainsbury's of which there are multiple around town. There are cash points in every single convenience store scattered all around town. There are cash points in the bus station, cash points in the train station, cash points in every gambling arcade......

Once again you really are looking for problems that aren't there.

'Normal' behaviour, @ECCOnoob.
