FIRETHORN1 Posted June 25, 2023 Share Posted June 25, 2023 I was disappointed to read recently in The Star, that Simmonites Butchers shop will be closing down. My family have used them for years and always found their meat, fish and other products to be of good quality and reasonably priced and their staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They always seemed to be doing roaring trade whenever I went in there, so I'm surprised they are ceasing to trade. Maybe their rent was hiked too high, or their lease ran out? I am told they were in the old Castle Market before Division Street, so I just hope they pop up somewhere else shortly. hauxwell Posted June 25, 2023 Share Posted June 25, 2023 A relative of mine use to shop at Simmonites on Division Street after they moved from Castle Market when it closed. I was told they opened the shop on Division Street with another stall holder from the old Castle Market because it was cheaper than paying rent in the new Moor Market.
