Bannan Upsets Fans With Comment About Rapist.

Something about calling a rapist a "Top Man".

Just saw the headline in the Daily Record then lost the link.

Does anyone on here know anything about it?.

Aye, was about David Goodwillie. Worth pointing out in case any lawyers are reading though that he has never been found guilty of rape in a criminal court....

He may not be the only footballer who may have been 'found guilty' when in fact, he could well be perfectly innocent. Goodwillie seems to be certain he's not guilty, as was a certain United player. The United player proved his innocence and maybe Goodwillie could do the same.

That said, it's poor from Bannan.

One he should have kept quiet about. If Goodwillie's 'truth' is the truth, we'll soon know the full story.

Re-kindling it now, on his own accord, says to me that the truth did not come out in the Civil Court.

Proving rape, without witnesses, is very, very difficult, if not impossible.

Bannan should have kept his Instagram gob shut. He's apologised and that should be an end to it.

Bannan has been unwise making the comments he did ,realised the error of his ways ..apologised and removed said comments…

There will be different views on this of course. 
fact is bannan is the club captain and with that comes a responsibility to uphold in public at least the highest moral standards in the wierd world we live in. 
mate or no mate he should imho keep out of  it ? Ok a sort of weak apology has had to be made but goodness knows how Wednesday female fans will think of him and in that respect he is tainted forever just like another we all know. 
if Wednesday have any backbone then they should sort him out privately and then remove the captains badge . Maybe give to vaulks  who by all recent accounts seems a lot more sensible etc

He's the captain, he's a role model and needs to be mindful of what he posts.

Then again he's only human like the rest of us - sometimes we defend people who turn out to be monsters and sometimes we slate people who turn out to be innocent 🤷‍♂️

The one good thing to come out of this is that plenty of Wednesday fans are calling him out about it .

 

It’s a really poor piece of judgement from Bannan. Regardless of all the  many good things he’s done at Hillsborough, he needs disciplining for this

The lawyers of several newspapers are happy for their clients to call Goodwillie a rapist.

of course he is …. Not

worth knowing the top man was also found guilty of assault no less than 3 times …..apparently the judge in the rape case awarded the woman £100k in compensation to be paid by goodwillie and by his co accused

both declared themselves bankrupt and to this day have not paid up… top man indeed!
