All the lefty  idiots thinking this is all a bit of a giggle just because it's Farage won't be laughing if some of them find themselves de-banked for say, criticizing Israel or something like that.

I take it you must be a righty idiot to make a statement like that unless you know of any Lefties who are doing that.  Or maybe you are just imagining  -  the righties usually are.

By the way,  I'm a lefty and No,  it isn't a giggle so I don't know what goes on in your head.

You imagine something happening, then you imagine that it's happened to a lefty,  then you start giggling without realising that it never actually happened. at all.   Yeah,  sounds like a righty.

The truth is out then?

Nigel Farage: Coutts document 'shows bank account shut over my views'

Nigel Farage says he has evidence that Coutts bank decided to close his account because his views "do not align" with their values.

Writing in the Telegraph, he said he had gained access to a report by the bank's wealth reputational risk committee via a subject access request.

Just been reading the latest on Farage & his dealings with Coutts Bank.

The bank compiled a 40 page dossier on Farage & their dealings with him.   The most important FACT, Coutts confirmed that Farage was professional in all his financial dealings with them.

The reason Coutts closed Farage's account, after he'd paid his mortgage off with them, was simply based on his political views, which are well known to all & because of his stance on Brexit & support for the likes of Trump.

The dossier even rediculously  highlights Farage's comments on him supporting tennis player, Novak Djokovic's stance on not having a Covid jab & being refused entry to Australia for a tennis tournament.  Apparently, the dossier also referred to Farage as a 'Grifter' and a 'Chancer'.  Well I'd be suing for a start.

The bank now admits Farage's account was closed simply as his profile 'Isn't conducive to their values'.  Since when did a bank, become the arbiters of morality?  It does strike me that Coutts, being basically a private bank, will have a number of customers with dubious backgrounds on how they made their millions but with a lower public profile than Farage.

I've also heard Martin Lewis' (financial expert), views on the matter this morning who said he knew of a number of Coutts customers who didn't meet the minimum financial criteria to maintain accounts at Coutts but they haven't had their accounts closed.

Lewis also pointed out that Coutts is also owned by NatWest, which itself is still 39% owned by UK taxpayers following a bailout.  As Lewis said, we're getting into dangerous territory when large organisations such as banks start to try manipulate how people should conform to a certain narrative & such organisations also set themselves up as moral guardians.

By the way, Prince Andrew is a Coutts account customer.

So they have closed his accounts because they don't like his political views and values and also his like of certain tweets, referencing Novak Djokovic and Ricky Gervais!!!!

And folk on the left are supporting this, can folk not see the bigger picture?

Talk about playing the man and not the ball.

Ive no doubt it's the same folk who were happy to see a bloke sat in a jail cell for 3 months without being found guilty of anything yet?

The left can be so vindictive and nasty just because they don't like someone, and yet they proclaim to be the tolerant and fair party.

Nigel Farage named Vladimir Putin as the world leader he most admires, praising the Russian president's handling of the crisis in Syria.

We all know what happened to Putins millionaire friends, losing your bank account is minor in comparison.

Making stuff up and "bigger picture" in the same sentence, talk about missing it entirely!

Laughing because it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke, does not imply support.

Farage was offered an alternative account.. he has not, and never was, left without access to banking services.

Going to prison until your trial begins is not at all unusual.

Would you expect someone accused of a serious crime, who's considered a danger to the public, to be allowed to roam free until their day in court?

Presumably, you'd have to... right? :suspect:

Aye, invariably towards people who have no concept of tolerance and fairness... so there's some irony there! 🤣

The right sure don't like the taste of what they're usually dishing out... that much is true!

Wooten being a prime example!

I was wrong in my thoughts when this story first made the news because I thought Nigel Farage was exaggerating and making a fuss about nothing.

Nigel Farage is correct to make a fuss about the way he has been treated by the bank.

All you people who are gloating about our Nige's woes are witnessing the beginnings of the UK's own social credit system.

Banks closing accounts because of wrong opinions is the start of a very slippery slope.

Do you mean the lefties who say that they support free speech but love to cancel anyone they don't like?

I reckon you might agree with this piece in your favourite newspaper:

Nigel Farage has a point. Coutts should explain itself

Quote

Farage makes a difficult case because so many other people understandably regard him as objectionable. But Coutts’ position here is odd. It seems to amount to this: if we find your views lawful but offensive, we’ll do nothing if you’ve got £1m on deposit; but we may dump you without explanation if you’ve got less. How does that align with those fluffy corporate values?
