Right, authoritarian, prescriptive, yup they often go together.

Ok I'll raise you:

Best allotment on the plot, plus giving out hundreds of freebies to other growers.

40 gallons of wine last year.

Do all my own plumbing, electrics, plastering, building, appliance repairs, engine repairs.

Make and fix computers, musical instruments, electronics.

Freeze and bottle food for the winter, grow and forage mushrooms and plants.

Hmmm...

That's quite a lot of talent you have there, Mr Palomar!

It's a shame if it should all go to waste...

... maybe you should think about becoming a teacher? ;)

I taught a lad to play House of the Rising Sun yesterday, but beyond that, as an autodidact I just expect people to do or not do.

I will call.

My vineyard produces much more.

I can't claim to give away food because my neighbours also grow their own as do most of my village.

I do my own plumbing and engine repairs but hopeless with electrics.

I also jar up fruits and vegetables, store them in my cellar for the winters months.

I repair old wood burning stoves for a hobby and a small income.

I voluntary rescue cats and dogs and try to re-home them.

Fungi and fauna ....Can I claim my brother being one of the UK's leading experts in this field?

Also, will you marry me?

Do you look anything like Isabelle Adjani c1980?

Am intrigued, I studied with the late Patrick Harding.

It's also interesting to note our huge similarities and yet differing outlooks

I didn't realise he had passed away. I will ask my brother if he had any dealings with him. My brother has links mainly in North Derbyshire.

It's often the case.

I have friend and a brother who are the polar opposite to how i see things but we get on like a house on fire!

To be fair, most folk think I am a lefty when they see what I do and read!

Have a good day.

👍

Speaking as a fellow autodidact...
... my greatest claim to fame (so far) is in teaching a load of Christmas decorations how to play the piano!

Which I think is quite an achievement...
... considering I can't actually play the piano myself! :hihi:

can someone tell me what a left winger is also what a right winger is? am I correct in thinking after reading most of the posters above that a left winger is some one who supports lets say the jnr doctors strike who, reportedly are on £14 an hour.

or the right wing that thinks keep them on £14an hour till they cause that much trouble till we have to give them a 50p an hour rise?

then there's the centre rights, centre lefts, moderates ----------------------------------------------------------------------

It depends on who's doing the labeling.

As one considered to be the resident "right winger" in this forum, called "far right" by some, and lumped in with some vile and evil fringe groups, such as Oath Keepers and Proud boys, white supremacists.

Here's the truth of the matter:

Grew up in Sheffield, went to Canada and started a business. Worked hard all my life,

Paid literally $millions in taxes, to take care of those who couldn't, and  finally walked away from the growing dysfunctional socialist society, and from the money, to find quality of life.

Found a place to retire, a little paradise in the Caribbean called the Dominican Republic, considered a black country, but with a well integrated mixed immigrant population.

I live happily, with my black partner in town among locals. We have gays, lesbians and many bi in our extended families and community, and everybody gets along well.

We live modestly in a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment. We take room temperature showers We have no car or bike, we walk to everything and shop from the local markets for locally grown food and produce. We cook almost all our own food.

With probably the lowest carbon footprint of anybody on this forum.

And, we are happy, surrounded by a happy and helpful community. We help the local school kids with supplies, used phones and laptops, etc.

I post under my own name, so all this can be verified, unlike the anonymous Walter Mitty alter egos out there who have totally crazy delusions about me.

Life is good!

I just wish everybody the same, but I won't take crap from fools!  :)

I've seen medical experts about it but my urge to highlight it's constant efforts to divide and horrible racist bias is too much for me at times.

I will try harder.

The DR is unique in that it overthrew it's Colonial masters in 1844 (Spain) and in 1850s (Haiti)

They have been independent ever since, and are a proud, self reliant people in their own right.  They do not harbour any simmering resentment towards white colonialists (Spain, America and Britain) that you find in other Caribbean countries.

Consequently you can travel through the entire country and feel safe.

If you are ever down there I'd be happy to introduce you to the folks outside the All Inclusive Reservations  :)
