Fargate Redevelopment

Recommended Posts

Related as Orchard Square is on Fargate but does anyone know why they closed the toilets down there?  I thought the point of a shopping centre is enhanced facilities compared to the High Street. You'd never get Crystal Peaks or Meadowhall closing their toilet facilities Willy (pardon the pun 😉) nilly.

Because there is a million mile difference between a large out of town shopping mall and the small precinct in the middle of the city centre.

Besides, there are toilets available in  Waterstones, Costa, Starbucks, Subway, Sheffield Plate, Terrace Goods and The Museum.  There is also a disabled toilet in the back lobby behind TK Maxx.

Given that a vast majority of its footfall is coming from food and drink vendors these days, it is hardly short on provision.  It was reported some time ago that one of the main catalysts for closing its previous public toilets was because they were constantly being abused and vandalised by the people using them. It has even less need now to be wasting its money given the amount of eateries which makes up it's tenant list.

Too late, just walked past, they are in a big pile all ripped up.

That’s a shame . Could’ve gone down Fargate , joined the tram tracks on High St then turned off onto Castlegate to visit the new development on the old castle site .
