Hillsbrough Park Over Used?

It's not about money, there are some really expensive houses around Mosborough, it's still quite dodgy.

Everywhere is dodgy

Just look at Heeley

Great place to live but you walk around a corner and there's a poo hole area or road

Just had quick Internet check & apparently the Don Valley Bowl only holds 7,500, so that's out.

Chuckling it back to Red Ruby to tell us an appropriate place in Attercliffe & not having a go, trying to prove a point or having a 'GOTCHA' moment just interested to know where Tramlines could be held down there?

It's got to be held in one of the Sheffield parks & like Jack Grey states, Hillsborough'perfect.  It's on the team route to move thousands easily to & from the venue.

If it'd been nice & dry this year we wouldn't have been having this thread.  The only thread would have been a moan about not enough trams to get people back to the city centre.

And if at the end of the day, as long as the repair work isn't being paid by the council tax payers, then I'm not going to grumble.

Hey, all I’m saying is that I although it doesn’t affect me personally, I can understand why some  local residents in Hillsborough aren’t happy about tramlines and I don’t like this branding them as whiny, whinging spoilsports stopping people ‘having a great time’.  Tramlines used to be in the city centre and it outgrew that.  I seem to remember people being unhappy about it taking business away from the city centre and becoming too commercialised.
Don Valley Bowl and the arena park have been suggested and why not?  No mud, no fenced off area in the park for weeks on end, it’s not in the middle of a residential area and there are good transport links.  It’s certainly a better idea than some of the fanciful suggestions about moving it to various rural areas which clearly wouldn’t work logistically.

Personally I think the music at that festival is very bland, boring and not my cup of tea at all so not my idea of a ‘great time’ but each to their own and all that. It’s clearly very popular so it needs a suitable venue to accommodate it.  The biggest music performers will play in suitably sized venues. Most of us would prefer to see them play in a more intimate venue than an arena but it just isn’t realistic. Similarly if a music festival grows it needs a suitable venue.

I will let you tell the organisers they have to reduce the tickets by at least half then.

I’m sure it’s not beyond the wit of the organisers to find a solution, possibly involving several locations, possibly in a completely different area. They will be well aware of the issues with present location are likely in discussion for long term plans.  The issues at Hillsborough have given them bad publicity and divided opinion.

Hillsborough Park is ideal for events and easy to get to if it wasn’t for the weather. The music festival LooseFest at Newcastle which is held on the Town Moor, a large area covered by grass next to the city centre, had to be cancelled at the last minute because of the rain. I feel sorry for the organisers, it’s a bit of a gamble with outdoor events. The British weather is so unpredictable.

This thread is just one hysterical overreaction to a bit of bad weather, where was this thread in 2022, or 2019, or 2018?

Point is that the weather isn’t predicable.  Although there’s a decent chance in late July it will be dry there are no guarantees with a British summer.  It’s not hysterical to suggest moving tramlines to another location where wet weather won’t cause so many issues.  It’s just sensible.

The unpredictable weather is the worst thing about British festivals

And the expense

Years ago we figured out that it's cheaper to go to a festival in Barcelona than Glastonbury

I've been to festivals in Croatia a few times because the weather is pretty much guaranteed

And it's cheap
