Very young age to die, for an ex sportsman who would probably still be quite fit.

Very sorry to hear it.

RIP

apart from the first heart attack he had 11 years ago, you would think sports people are fitter than fit, but you can also look at it the opposite, they put that much strain on their bodies for like 30 or so years, it must weaken the bits that they use the most, obviously footballers must put that much strain on their hearts running as fast as humanly possible for 90 minutes or so at a time.

I remember Ron Atkinson signing him, he mostly played cameo roles as he was 38 at that time but his skill and vision put lads half his age to shame, there was a game where we were losing 0-2 at home to Ipswich, Big Ron threw him into the mix and he did his utmost to get us back into the game, he curled a great goal in and we finished 2-2, also remember him as player/manager when he came on as sub v Everton scored and subbed himself back off, great player. As a manager he brought the likes of Waddle and Walker to the club and converted a defender (Warhurst) into one of the best strikers in the top flight for a short time, will never forget him guiding us to a win in the biggest Sheffield derby there will ever be, two Cup Finals and 3rd place finish, probably the best Wednesday period I’ve seen or will ever see.

RIP Sir.
