There's a good number of private sites dotted around the country, run by those in the traveller community. The issue is the groups that often camp illegally are already banned from them, because they can't behave themselves or won't pay for the pitch. The same groups often moan there isn't enough sites provided for them, but what they really mean is there aren't places that let them stay for nothing and do whatever they please.
