cressida
I'm watching a Harry Potter film atm (Goblet of Fire, 4th JK Rowling film) and in awe of the special effects - hence the question. Edited August 5, 2023 by cressida
HeHasRisen
Probably difficult to say. Terminator 2:Judgement Day had, at the time, jaw dropping special effects and they spent a bomb on them, but 30 years later it doesn't look so good now. And the Cameron film from a couple of years earlier, The Abyss: The liquid metal effects for the T1000 really were jaw-dropping, especially when you have a look at some of the behind the scenes videos and realise that a lot of it was done with traditional model making. Another one from that era that kept the model shops busy: Total Recall.

Mister M
Some films of the early 1980s such as The Thing or American Werewolf in London still look amazing to this day. Conversely I remember the James Bond film Die Another Day whose special effects were just awful - it was really shoddy CGI.

Anna B
'Close encounters of the third kind.' Made an astonishing 45 years ago, (1978) but IMO most of the special effects still hold up well.
PRESLEY
Its a Toss up for me, which was the funniest, the Rubber Shark in Jaws or the Original Star Trek Set.
