Wilko Collapses Into Administration

There's no point trying to discuss business practices with Soclialists because they believe in rainbows and unicorns

Look what they have done to Venezuela

And San Francisco

My views, like many others are much more nuanced than you characterise them. Not everyone has such simplistic binary views as you.

As far as business practices are concerned, at the Select Committee today the executive of Wilko was keen to partly blame the Liz Truss Government for their failure:

No we don't. It's been explained to you before, because your views are extreme you view anything to the left of you as 'socialist'.

A Kibbutz is not something would base any business model on because it's essentially a hippy commune

Hippy communes generally don't have heavy machinery industres, a mass workforce or transport infrastructures

It is not a hippy commune , never has been it was the original system brought into use around 1948 so as to house and feed the new arrivals from Europe after the holocaust . It is the same today , neighbour helps neighbour , the housing system is one where as a family needs to expand then all the community is involved in finances and in some cases labour to help build .Hippy's sit around playing guitars with flowers in their hair and the last thing they will do is plough fields with a rifle strapped to their backs just in case some one decides to attack them .

If it were true, Labour would be able to use it in their list of Tory failings.

"The former chair of collapsed shop chain Wilko has said Liz Truss’s mini-budget was partly to blame for the company going out of business.

Lisa Wilkinson said a spike in interest rates meant that a credit facility they were negotiating became too expensive."

Wilkinson is just claiming that the rescue  package was affected, they have had years of profits.

You didn't explain anything to me

You just gave your opinion which I disagree with

We are a high tax, high spend, socialist country

£500bn spent on COVID

£200bn a year on the NHS

Millions sat at home on benefits

Millions more on the sick

It's a country that takes money from the middle classes and gives it to the lazy and thick

On the upside, we are a very tolerant nation.

We even tolerate hateful, racist, divisive citizens.

The sort of people who resent looking after the ill and the infirm, still get tolerated here.

Lucky for you, eh.

A few posts ago you defined Socialism as something which was practiced in Venezuela. Only those hard of thinking would bracket Venezuela and the UK as similar.

Anyway, who's this "we" you mentioned? I thought you'd decided to live abroad. Unless you've decided to move to Venezuela, (or more likely, still live in Park Hill)

There's also millions on benefits who are in work, and work hard as well. And many of those who are unemployed or sick have paid into the system when they were well enough to work. Of course, there are those who are long term unemployed (that is out of work and claiming benefits for 12 months or more). But even then that's only 1.2% of  the total.

So this idea that there's a vast majority of permanently workshy scroungers is not true. You might be too lazy and thick to find out the facts, but not everybody is.

I do still live in Park Hill, paying my bills and my local taxes

But I haven't been there since June because I'm away working and paying taxes in another country too

Call me thick and lazy that's cool

Call me anything you like iif it makes you feel better about your empty soulless boring existence

Cold this morning was it?....when you have to drag yourself out of bed

It's beautiful here this morning....a lovely 24 degrees and rising.

I'll probably have a BBQ tonight....again

Enjoy your microwave dinner

You do work hard and deserve the lifestyle you have earned.    There are some people who just aren't up to it, who haven't got the mental capability,  and yes, gumption/know how,  to succeed in life,  so we have to look after them as we are a caring nation,  it's true we are being taking advantage of by some and maybe we are too soft,  the true but harsh opinions you have just made are measured ones I believe.

The only reason why I mentioned "thick and lazy" is because you made a sweeping generalisation about the unemployed being thick and lazy, and the figures don't demonstrate what you claim.

Thanks for the interest in my wellbeing, I will enjoy my chicken, potatoes and roast vegetables for my tea. Looking forward to it, especially as it was cold this morning.

I didn't have to drag myself out of bed, as I enjoy my job and like the people who I work with.

Anyway, don't have too many BBQs, they tend to be loaded with saturated fat. x
