I can't believe that a perfectly well trained, intelligent nurse, can resort to such acts of depravity..

What on earth goes through these peoples minds..

It's totally beyond my comprehension.

I think it's strange because it's a woman

If it was a man it would more believable

Exactly, so its a well meaning intention to bring people in but it can lead to bonkers situations where people just stand there screaming for an hour to disrupt things. Putting a TV in the cell is a good compromise.

There should be no compromise.  Lucy Letby most likely was told by her legal team she did not have to attend the sentencing.  In fact she has not been attending the verdicts according to media reports. The media were not allowed to reveal the early verdicts due to reporting restrictions being in place until all the verdicts were delivered.  The Lucy Letby case has not been a normal trial due to the amount of time it has run and the amount of victims involved.  The investigation before charges were brought also took over 2 years to happen since she was first arrested in 2018.  She behaved calm when she was first arrested and not the type to start screaming.

What about if that suddenly changed? Or, it happened in another case? Will make the situation worse for the victims.

Good insights from the Doctor who expressed concern but was ignored.

The management and executives should never work again and face charges. Hopefully the parents can sue the hospital.

If they scream and cause a fuss then so be it.  The publicity this case has generated with her non appearance will encourage other found guilty defendants also to do the same.  At least Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer were singing on the same hymn sheet yesterday so a change in the law if required should happen quickly when parliament returns.

Also, convicted murderers who don't tell us where the bodies are should never be released from prison

In fact we should adopt the American system that if you plead guilty you will get a lesser sentence

If she had appeared would it have made it more upsetting for the parents,  she was advised she didn't have to appear by her defence,  she may have decided to appear but took their advice.   There could have been mayhem.

It did take the police over two years to bring charges after she was first arrested meaning it was not at all straight forward gathering evidence to prove wrongdoing.   We have to be careful not to overreact because of one evil nurse otherwise managers will end up suspending nurses and doctors for no real reason.
