I agree. There have been quite a few shocking high profile cases where the guilty refuse to face their penalties in court, and that shouldn't be allowed to happen.

There is report that 'Lawful Enforcement' could be used to force her to attend court for sentencing.  The law might not need to be changed because there are powers already in place but are not used.

I've just been reading the reporting of the victim statements.  Can't find the words to describe it.  People say 'you can only imagine what those families went through', and you know, of course, it's all horrific, but to read their words and to read reporters' descriptions of the parents who are absolutely broken after going through this for so many years, initially blaming themselves for their children's deaths and injury.  It's monstrous. 

 

Read this, from the father of triplets, two of whom were murdered by Letby.

I heard on the news that at least 2 managers who did work as managers of the NHS Trust where Letby worked, but who subsequently left, have been suspended from their current roles.

I think this needs to happen across the NHS, Social Services, the Police or any outsourced company providing care for vulnerable people - and there are serious failings. Too often it's the managers who have all the power with no responsibility (and they will be driven by factors like reputational damage, not meeting targets, or highlighting budgetary constraints) but in this case, the clinicians have all the responsibility but no power.

There needs to be a comparable body for NHS & Social Care managers, as there is the GMC for doctors.

And Letby's parents . I cannot imagine the agony they are also going through . There lives have been blighted  for ever by the actions of their evil daughter.
