They need to get fining those parking on the pavement and on bicycle lanes. That will bring in some revenue.

Unfortunately the government haven’t given councils outside London the powers to fine motorists for parking on footways. Most cycle lanes are advisory only, so no contravention is committed by parking in them.

Surely they can fine for parking anywhere that is not on the road or in a designated space?? They have a duty to protect access for wheelchair users/people with cerebal palsy.

If they can find the power to fine hard-working van drivers going about their work in the city centre, surely they can find it to fine obstructive, selfish car drivers.

He literally just told you they legally can't.

I am questionning what is to stop them obtaining the powers to do it.

I wish they would.  It’s become perfectly acceptable among many drivers to pavement park.  Some do it even when there are free spaces available to park on the road.  Its entitled, lazy, selfish and sometimes  downright dangerous.  It won’t stop until they take a financial hit.

Its a habit for some now . They are that used to doing it , even when its not necessary .

Maybe if the previous government hadn't consistently borrowed from the magic money tree then it wouldn't have been necessary?

Maybe if the previous government hadn't sold off our gold reserves when prices were rock bottom?

Maybe if the previous government hadn't used public money to bail out private banks and then only gain losses instead of profit or breaking even on the ROI.

Maybe if the previous government hadn't taken us into an unjustified and unaffordable war ?

But yeah, Tories are to blame.

Maybe people should start taking off those red rose tinted glasses....

How long does it take to get over what the previous government did ?   they've had 13 years already.

Not 13 years of putting things right but 13 years of making them worse.   Everything in the country is worse than they were when the Tories took office.

This lot have borrowed more, taxed us more, cost us more than 4 billion dur to Brexit and got us involved in the costs of another war in Ukraine.

They've ruined the NHS,  schools and hospitals are falling apart due to lack of maintenance and the country is full of asylum seekers whilst Sunak keeps making pledges which he never keeps.
