What has any of that got to do with the point of my post you quoted?

🤦‍♀️ You said that the type of bus used was the reason there was no demand/intention for customers to travel to Manchester Airport.

Dont even see why they thought a major Glossop-Sheffield (and vice versa) demand existed tbh, there are no settlements on the A57 between Ladybower (where services turn off towards Bamford) and Glossop, and people take jobs on the basis of existing provision, not the likelihood someone will wander in 10 years later and put a bus route in. Just seemed strange all round.

People don't only travel for work. People travel for days out, exploring, socialising, eating and drinking.

Summertime, it was a fairly busy bus as far as Chorlton St.

As Hulleys don't do coach work...

And how many of those arent on OAP passes? Thats likely the crux of it.

If it was a profitable route, or worth subsidising, it would still be running 7 days a week.

But it is foolish to assume that people only travel for work. I agree that the Manchester route wasn't a success. I don't agree about the Glossop one being strange. It's clearly aimed at tourists and funded by Derbyshire Council. As long as Hulley's get paid, I doubt they care if people are using mobility/elderly passes. If it brings people to Glossop, to spend money at businesses who then pay tax back to Derbyshire council, it makes sense. I am sure the landlord of The Snake Pass Inn is happy for the increased footfall to his bar too. I saw many people alighting there and at Snake Forest, as well as the usual plethora of people getting off at Fairholmes.

The original service wasnt a subsidised service iirc, it was run 7 days a week as a commercial service and didnt last very long at all. If they are only willing to bring it back as a subsidised service one day a week, that says it all.

The Snake Pass Inn has always looked shut when I have driven past it tbh, is it actually still open?

As someone with a business diploma, I can say that business ventures are calculated risks. The airport bus will have been run as a trial, with staff able to be moved on to other duties if it failed. It was a case of dipping their toe in the water and seeing if they could drum up a market, which they couldn't.

The Glossop bus only runs on summer Sundays because Derbyshire Council & Hulley's calculated that the risk of running 7 days, all year round would be too high but acknowleged that their is a demand on summer Sundays when the working man tends to have his day off and possibly wants to enjoy the outdoors.

I didn't go in The Snake Pass in but people were certainly getting off at the stop there. There is certainly footfall.
