Mkapaka
Tipping is odd but I do it myself. it’s like you leave a tip for a waiter but not for a shop assistant. it’s borne out of service industries that predominantly relied on staff getting tips to cover low wages so that doesn’t sit right. i don’t know - I just give bloke who delivers takeaway a quid or two if I’ve got change - feel a bit better for it for whatever reason. Example, its freezing cold, raining and you can't be bothered to cook so you order a takeaway. Do you tip the delivery guy? We tip a fiver when we order takeaway . We don't have them all that often but when we do we only order one when we have £5 lying around for a tip. Some delivery drivers just take it and say thanks, some say it's too much, one guy actually got a little emotional and told me hardly anyone tips anything these days. I was very surprised at that and just figured most people do. So anyway. Do you tip? You really need to try harder.

Jack Grey
Depends where I am If I'm in a UK restaurant and the service and meal was good then I'll tip I tip the takeaway delivery driver if he brings it to my apartment door but if I have to go down to get it I wont I tip the taxi driver who drives me to the airport And I'll give a few quid to my barber In Europe the same I'll tip if service is good But in America you have to tip for absolutely everything. How much depends on the service but it's a minimum of 15% Edited August 23, 2023 by Jack Grey
Pyrotequila
7 minutes ago, Jack Grey said: But in America you have to tip for absolutely everything. That's because companies pay people crap wages and it's expected that people tip in order for them to make a decent wage, instead of the company themselves paying them properly... America is weird! I would leave a tip in a restaurant if the service was good. But then you have to wonder why it's only certain professions where tipping is acceptable? Would someone tip a supermarket worker that went in the back to check for stock?
Al Bundy
In restaurants and for cabbies yes. Don't ask me why because I've no idea!! Just seems the thing to do I guess. Oh and food delivery drivers also. Edited August 23, 2023 by Al Bundy
