Ipswich wont need to invest as heavily this season because, via planned well thought out recruitment, they put together a decent young squad last season capable of not just getting promoted but of being competitive in the championship, ala sunderland the season before (youngest squad in the championship last season) and Plymouth, Where as we built a side with a single aim of getting promoted and now we are having to assemble a side quickly because weve chucked it together at the last minute and changed manager, so lost any impetus, any fees we pay for players will be minimal, such as Wilkes for 70K, we dont pay millions any more kid because the owners spent it covering up his mistakes, and has even had to take out loans to cover the shortfalls, its mostly free transfers. Mckenna wasn't a top manager, infact bud this is his FIRST managerial appointment, he and Michael Carrick were coaches at OT, Mckenna did spend some time as an assistant during JMs time as manager but never in charge of 1st team affairs. But he was a well respected coach, hes been backed though by solid recruitment and the tractors haven't been shy to fork a few quid out, Broadhead and Hirst were both 1.5M fees and Davies the flying LB cost around 1M from Leeds academy, when was the last time we spent a million quid on a player pal? And to cap it off, pay on the gate today for non members is £50, hardly encouraging walk ups are we bud Edited September 16, 2023 by staninoodle

Sadly I think you and many others are wasting time trying to educate mr Bassett who doesn’t answer any reasonable questions and steadfastly refuses to provide support for any of the “facts” which he constantly pedals on here. Frankly I can only assume he is in the pay of mr chancer or maybe he’s taking everyone for a ride and he’s the forums clickbait king? Who knows but I can guarantee he won’t be there today waving his “ I luv you mr chancer” banner. I give up
