I don't disagree that Animal Farm is one of the finest novels of the 20th Century, however I'm not sure why someone who was born into wealth but became a socialist is lauded. I would've thought in the climate currently, and for the last 40 years or so, that would've marked him out as the bete noir of modern Britain: a champagne socialist and class traitor.
