The_DADDY
A former soldier has escaped from Wandsworth prison while awaiting trial for terror and Official Secrets Act offences. The Metropolitan Police have issued an urgent appeal to trace Daniel Abed Khalife who is believed to have made his getaway on Wednesday morning. The 21-year-old suspect is alleged to have escaped from the prison - one of the UK's largest - under a food truck, using straps and holding on to the bottom, a Whitehall source has told Sky News. https://news.sky.com/story/urgent-police-appeal-as-terror-suspect-escapes-wandsworth-prison-12956202
m williamson
I'm beginning to think that we're all involved in some Carry on Up the Creek without a Paddle scenario. Is there a level of incompetence that we have still to sink to? Because we surely can't be that far off now. Apparently we've been building schools and hospitals out of Weetabix, handing out multi million contracts to the local landlord, and when given the task of protecting the public from terrorist suspects we can't be ar@sed to carry out basic checks. Holding on under a lorry leaving a prison has been shown that many times in TV and films that we groan when they do it again. Who'd fall for that we say. Well now we know.

Prisons now so overcrowded prisoners are being locked up in police stations: https://www.channel4.com/news/revealed-government-spends-millions-on-overspill-prison-cells-in-police-stations Tories sure are good at spending other people's money... on stuff that, with a competant government, wouldn't be needed! 🙄 Edited September 6, 2023 by Magilla
rudds1
When I used to deliver to prisons the vehicle was searched both inside and underneath using mirrors on sticks.

Let the coppers turn up to work and then lock them up when they get there. Cost cutting genius.

Tipstaff
The blame will lay fairly and squarely at HMPS' door. As has been said, basic bread and butter checks not done. Check them in and double check them out.
