I doubt they'll want to keep paying staff for weeks/months on end while shops are being re-fitted, and likewise people won't sit around unpaid on the off chance they'll score a job at a new store once it opens. Fair point, but on the other hand if they don't move quickly, many of the staff will have found other jobs
crookesey
As an ex retailer in companies that we’re household names, I considered that I was safe for life, what a mistaka to maka. What it did teach me was to always have a ‘plan 2’. Edited September 13, 2023 by crookesey

The one on Haymarket is huge They'll never put a Poundland in there In fact I doubt anyone will go in there purely because of the location and lack of parking They may need to knock the whole block down and start again

No they won't, considering they shut a smaller store up the road on Snig Hill less than 6 months ago & they've got large stores at the bottom of the High St & The Moor, where there's actual customer footfall. Can't see B&M wanting to take such a large store on either. Think you're right. As the intention is to open up the area where the old Castle Market used to stand & create some kind of park / community space, it's a good opportunity just to knock the entire block down, right up to Commercial St tram stop.
