Baron99
Just a heads up to anyone heading into the city centre tomorrow & Sunday. Students are returning this weekend, so expect an increase in traffic. If previous years are anything to go by, from mid-morning on the south side, I'd avoid the bottom of London Rd., Boston St., Bramall Lane & St Mary's Rd from Granville Sq up to London Rd. Resident
You'd think that an institution that's supposedly full of academic scholars ready to to teach would think of a staggered plan to reduce the influx....

Or, that the people who live locally would understand a bit of disruption and plan accordingly.

Staggered across the weekend, or a number of weekends? Staggered freshers week, staggered term start? Not sure it's worth all that for a few hours of busy traffic. 2
rogets
Can anyone explain why students are not arriving on bike or walking? Students want to ban cars, but then arrive to the university in a car.

Findlay
Just been to York, normal chaos as freshers and second year start at same time. With a given 15 minute unload time for the whole van and a 3 minute walk to the room each way. Needless to say after 6 trips we were a tad later than planned and fell exhaused into the local pub after for a breather.

Wouldnt really be convenient now would it, students are generally taken to uni by their parents, in their car, now tell the parents they have to take a day off work to do it. This is all akin to moving next to a football ground and moaning about the traffic every second Saturday. So the city is disrupted over this weekend, it's disrupted again next weekend (24th) because some silly mares want to run around, ignoring the hundreds of acres of open land less than an hour away, the litany of large parks etc.
