Lampedusa

Recommended Posts

No one seems to be offering solutions. Italy expects fellow EU members to take a percentage of these people as agreed and as an act of EU solidarity. Germany has categorically refused, probably due to Merkels decision several years ago to allow 800,000 asylum seekers in. In France the RN is gaining more support, according to the Polls, due to immigration, recent social unrest caused largely by North African heritage youth in the poor areas and the unpopularity of Macron.

Giorgia Meloni was eleçted in Italy by acting tough and saying she had the answers. After yesterdays events in Lampedusa she’s acknowledged failure. The leader of her coalition partner and predecessor Matteo Salvini  ,  yesterday describing the situation as the «  end of Europe, socially, culturally, economically «

Worrying times.

It's our future

Most of those people will be coming this way

Apart from those going to Germany (3 times as many as the UK in 2022), France (nearly twice as many), Spain and Austria (a good 20,000 more) and Italy (about the same as the UK).

Worrying times.

They certainly are but I can't understand why everyone's surprised.

It was said that this would happen and keep on growing worse because of the effects of climate change,  rises in food prices and shortages of such,   and worsening living conditions.

All whilst the citizens of richer countries pay lip service to fairness and equality whilst continuing to party as though there were no tomorrow.

Of course they say   I want some of that,  as we search for more oil and gas instead of keeping the promises we made.
