Time Wasting

On the extra time debate, at least fans are getting value for money now that time is added on & not paying for 90 mins of football but seeing only 65 - 70 mins of the ball in play.

There is an easy way to solve all of this, which some people wont like.

Make the game two 35 minute halves.

Stop the clock EVERY TIME the ball goes out of play or dead, there is a foul, a player is rolling around on the floor, until the goalie releases the ball etc.  Clock controlled by a "fifth official" and displayed for all to see in the ground, when 35 mins is up the half/game is over (or wait until the ball goes dead one final time like in rugby union)

Stopping the clock is good enough for both rugby codes, why not football?

Seen far too much crying about this, I will guarantee at some point this season Sheff United will be the beneficiaries of the ref adding on 10+ minutes, and not a word will be uttered on here about how bad it is.

The two posts above tell you all that you need to know.

I hate time wasting. It’s lovely to see it fail

so spectacularly.

The whole thread from the OP tells us what we already know as do 99% of his ridiculous contributions.

As soon as challenged to discuss anything sensibly he falls short.

Treat him like for like.

No need to shorten the game.

Fifth official clock is a decent idea.

The ref telling a player how to play the game is wrong in any sport.

This i an interesting read if true.

May be an image of 1 person, playing football, playing soccer and text that says 'Lhave been in that situation, when have seen an incident and been told to say haven't seen To be fair to the FA its not them It comes from within the PGMOL Professional Game Match Officials Limited) F doesn't stop there We been told to give a certain amount at corners, or throw ins, fouls, bookings etc. The Premier League IS rife with spot fixing and bias towards certain clubs from the FA Every referee in the Premier League could be infront of court one day soon. Mark Halsey (Premier League referee 1999 2013) 第 LEACUR'

You probably would need to, if you made it a 45 min clock in each half, stopping every time the ball went dead, you would likely be adding 45-60 mins to the entire game, which broadcasters would take issue with before you even think about anything else.

A 70 minute clock would be fine, the players would be exerting roughly as much effort as they do now. Imagine Klopp moaning about all games being 25% longer!

IF the Halsey statement is true, it doesn't surprise me at all. Football is being run in line with the system used to run the UK especially, and some other Nations as well. Look after the 1% at the top. Feed the money, advertising and available funds to the clubs that least need them. Keep the gates to the top 8 places in the Premier League closed and monitored. Bail out the rich, allow lower clubs to fold. It's bent. The whole country is bent.
