Time Wasting

Hmmm...

Here's a question then...
... how come there was so much time added in the second half?

If, as we're being told, it's because the goalkeeper was taking too long and time wasting...
... then why wasn't he booked for it?

The answer is, Foderingham had already been booked for handling outside the area in the first half and the ref would have had to send him off!

So either he wasn't time wasting or the ref bottled it and didn't want the negative publicity and scrutiny that sending him off might have brought!

But yet they STILL decided to add on so much time for time wasting...

Apparently he warned Foderingham he would send him off and told him to play long to speed it up.

Did Sheff United cause their own down fall against Spurs by time Wasting .

The pundits on radio 5 sport this evening were unanimous  in saying that they had them selves to blame .

So are the new rules that punish the goal keepers as well as the thrown ins taking minutes to clear the lines  fair .

What do our experts think .

Regarding last Saturday's game, having spoken to a couple of Blades who went to the game, it turns out that the ref should have played about 8 mins extra at the end of the first half but only played about 3 mins.

Realising he'd got it wrong he added the time onto the end of the 2nd half but let's face it, it wasn't the ref or the extra time that was the Blades downfall, it was our inability to shut the game down in the dying mins, eswwhen it was 1-1.  We should have come away with at least a point.

Can't really complain, the Blades have benefited from opposition teams time wasting; games against Norwich spring to mind with perpetual time waster, Angus Gunn in net.  Give that bloke a goal kick, it can take him at least a good minute to take it.  I've even seen him line himself up then call over one of his defenders to take the kick & all I've ever see a ref do is point to his watch.

On the extra time debate, at least fans are getting value for money now that time is added on & not paying for 90 mins of football but seeing only 65 - 70 mins of the ball in play.

Personally, rather than all the added on time, I rather see players get a yellow card for time wasting.  See above re: Angus Gunn.

You want to try it yourself sometime.

Anyway you asked for experts and you've got the view of UEFA  but won't acknowledge it.

It doesn't suit your agenda.
