Court appearances are public hearings however accessing the information is somewhat reliant on media reports of those hearings. The information is not easily available from the court service. Some (not all) court listings are available which simply identify defendants by their full name, but how do you confirm that John Smith is the same John Smith that has just been killed by a police officer without addresses or date of birth of either the victim or the court defendant? How do you establish the outcome of these listings?

And on the same subject, when the press report that people were "suspected" of involvement in some other offence, where does that information come from?
