Apparently if your estate is worth more than £325,000 (includes house)

This tax is to be changed - highered , but how much,  has anything been revealed in party manifestos?

I know I probably won't have to pay it - being older than my sons.

The threshold is £325,000 if it's money and contents but goes up to £500,000 if a house has been bequeathed to a son or daughter. It's 40% for anything over the threshold. It was aimed at taxing the very rich but because of rising property prices, more and more people are having to pay it. If they're going to inherit that much, they can afford to pay it I reckon. I'm going to be hit with a bill for around £32,000 but I'm fine with it as there'll be plenty left over although I'm one of 4 beneficiaries. Abolishing it would be another tax cut for the wealthy just as income tax cuts are. They can't afford to cut taxes but if they could, they should be cutting VAT which is a regressive tax and impacts most on those with the lowest incomes.
